The first thing we would suggest to do is decide where you’re going to install floor tiles this will narrow down your search and also give you a better chance of finding some floor tiles which will work for your area.  If you plan on measuring your floor yourself you will need to do so in square metre as this is how allot of floor specialists will work.

If you have floor tiles already laid down try and work out how many you have as you might be able to find some of the same size which will allow you to simply walk in and buy various packs of floor tiles which will cover the whole of your floor.

Now you have bought all of the floor tiles you will need to look at preparing your floor to lay your floor tiles this can be done in a number of ways, to begin with you will need to hover and dust to ensure you have no small particles of dust which might prevent your floor tiles from been laid properly.

You will now need to remove any moulding from the floor this can easily be done using a flat edge screwdriver and a hammer what we are ideally looking for is a flat smooth surface which will allow us to lay our floor tiles. If you struggle to get some patches up off the old floor you can use a hairdryer which will heat the glue up and allow you to remove any of the old floor glue. When you have got all the glue up ensure you clean the floor and again remove any dust so you have a good surface to lay floor tiles.

Now you have a clean floor surface you will need to go about filling in any small cracks the floor might have this will just help the new floor tiles stick better.  To do this you will need to use the poly filler now it’s a good idea to use this sparingly and now apply too much as it might make the floor un-even.  Now you have filled in all of the holes you will need to give the floor time to dry this period is usually around 24 hours so leave the floor and come back the following day.

Once the poly filler has fully dried your ready to start cutting your floor tiles, this is one of the hardest things you will have to do when your laying your floor tiles as you will have to ensure you do not cut the floor tiles to small or too big. We always say start at the middle and work your way making sure you cut all edge tiles to properly cover the whole floor. When you have cut all of your floor tiles you can think about laying the floor tiles and gluing them into place.

Laying Vinyl Floor Tiles

To lay your vinyl floor tiles you will first need to put them all into position allowing enough edging around the side of the wall.  If you need to cut your floor tiles make sure you mark tiles with a pencil and then use a Stanley knife to cut the floor tiles.

Depending on the floor surface you might have to add some adhesive to the floor which you will need to let dry but this will heavily depend on the floor surface you have for more information on this you should ask your local floor specialist who will be able to give you a better idea on the best way to lay your floor tiles.

Once you have applied the adhesive to the floor you will need to peel back the adhesive layer which is on the floor tiles then continue to lay the floor tiles, when you have laid the floor tiles please allow at least 24 hours for the tiles be to completely dry and then you could go about sealing your floor tiles if you wished to do so , if at any stage of laying your floor you are unsure please contact your local floor specialist who will be able to offer information and advice on the best ways to lay floor tiles.
