Kitchen tiles are one of the most common things people will look to change when they are re-decorating their home this might include the floor tiles or wall tiles. Whatever you need to change in your kitchen the likely hood is you will have to cut your kitchen tiles to make sure they fit properly. This process can be very hard and if you cut your kitchen tiles wrong then you could be left with a whole load of floor or wall tiles which you cannot use because they have been cut wrong.

When you’re going to be cutting your kitchen tiles make sure you give them a lot of attention and focus on the cutting of your floor tiles this will ensure you have the best chance of not only been able to cut your kitchen tiles properly but also make sure you don’t injure yourself which might result in serious injury.

If you’re going to cut your floor tiles by yourself then you will need some tools which will make the whole process a lot easier. The tools you can use will depend how confident you are using machinery if you have some DIY experience then you could look at using a tile saw which will cut the blade quickly but if you would prefer you can use a manual tile cutter which will give you a much better cut as it’s not electric.
  • Tile Cutter
  • Tile Saw
  • Bucket of Water
  • Sponge
  • Stanley Knife
  • Ruler
Now you have all of the above tools you can think about cutting your kitchen tiles, the process should be fairly easy remember if you’re not confident using a tile saw then you will not need to get this and you can just use a Tile Cutter which will allow you to have a much smoother cut on your kitchen tiles.

To begin with you will need to mark all of the tiles you want to cut, it might be a good idea to begin with to only cut the tiles which will go on the wall and not the kitchen tiles which will need various cuts to fit within your home. Make a small mark on the back of your kitchen tile with a pencil and then using a ruler draw a straight line across your entire kitchen tile.

Once you have done this you can think about placing your tile in the tile cutter which will allow you to cut your kitchen tile. Place the kitchen tile in your cutter and slowly drag the cutter towards you do not apply to much pressure as this might damage your floor tiles. Once you have got to the end of the kitchen tile simply apply a small amount of pressure and your kitchen tile should come apart which will be the cut.

Repeat this process until you have cut all of your kitchen tiles and then you can think about cutting your tiles which need to go around light switches and other sockets within your kitchen. Follow much of the same process above but cutting less of the tile to make your cut make sure you do not cut too far down into your kitchen tile as this might result in your breaking the tile off.

If you do want to use the tile saw to cut all of your kitchen tiles then you can do so you will need to place your floor tile into the cutter and push it forward this will apply pressure and force the blade to cut through your floor tiles. Make sure you do not apply to much pressure as this will cause damage to the kitchen tiles and yourself.

If at any stage during of the cutting process you are un sure then we strongly recommend you do not carry on as this could cause a lot more damage to the tiles and end up costing you a lot more money having to replace them as you have damaged some tiles.  The best option would be to always seek some professional help when you are cutting your kitchen tiles as this will ensure you have the best chance of been able to have tiles which are cut well and not damaged.

This process will also change if you’re going to be laying vinyl kitchen tiles and not ceramic or porcelain as vinyl is a lot easier to cut you can do this using a normal knife which will simply cut through your kitchen tiles without too much effort.
